Community Guidelines

The Lounge is TipSheet's members-only chat room. It works when members can talk markets honestly without being sold to, harassed or misled. You must accept these Guidelines before your first post. They form part of our Terms of Service.

The rules #

1. Keep it on markets. Talk about stocks, options, futures, macro, news and TipSheet's calls. Off-topic chatter should stay short and friendly.

2. No touting, pumping or paid promotion. Do not:

  • promote a stock, token or other investment because you are being paid, rewarded or will benefit in a way you do not disclose;
  • coordinate buying or selling to move a price, spread false or misleading information, or run "pump-and-dump" or "short-and-distort" schemes;
  • post paid promotions, affiliate or referral links, or sponsored content.

If you hold a position in something you are talking up or down, say so.

3. No solicitation. Do not advertise or recruit for paid groups, chat servers, "signal" services, courses, managed accounts or other businesses. No "DM me for signals", "join my group", phone numbers or requests to move a conversation off TipSheet for business.

4. No personalised advice for pay, and no pretending to be a professional. Do not offer to manage anyone's money or give paid advice. Do not claim licences or credentials you do not hold.

5. Protect privacy. Do not post anyone's personal information — your own sensitive information or anyone else's — including real names that people have not shared, addresses, phone numbers, emails, account numbers, screenshots of private messages, or brokerage statements that reveal account details.

6. Be respectful. No harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation or encouragement of self-harm. No hate speech or attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or serious illness.

7. No sexual, violent or graphic content. No sexual content of any kind, no content that sexualises minors (reported to authorities), and no violent threats or glorification of violence.

8. No impersonation. Do not pretend to be another member, the TipSheet team, a company, a public figure or a regulator, or pick a display name designed to mislead.

9. No spam. No repetitive posts, flooding, chain messages, bots or automated posting, or links whose main purpose is to drive traffic.

10. Nothing illegal. No content that breaks the law or encourages others to, including insider information, market manipulation, fraud, or the sale of illegal goods or services.

11. Respect copyright. Do not paste paywalled articles, research reports or other people's copyrighted material. Share a short quote and a link instead. See our Copyright & DMCA Policy.

12. Remember it's not advice. Everything in the Lounge is members' opinion. Other members are not vetted, and may be wrong or have undisclosed positions. Do your own research.

Automatic filter #

Before a post is published, an automatic filter checks it for slurs, sexual content, violent threats, phone numbers, spam links and solicitations such as "DM me" or invitations to paid groups. If your post is blocked you'll see a message explaining why; edit it and try again. If you think the filter made a mistake, email support@tipsheet.trade.

Report and Block #

  • Report: every message has a Report option. Choose a reason (for example spam, touting, harassment, personal information or other) and send. Reports are confidential; the person reported is not told who reported them.
  • Block: blocking a member hides their posts from you immediately and going forward. They are not notified. You can unblock them in the Lounge settings.

How we moderate #

Reports go to TipSheet's moderation queue. We aim to review every report within 24 hours. We may remove content, and restrict or remove accounts, whether or not a report was made, including content that is lawful but breaks these Guidelines.

Enforcement #

Depending on how serious the violation is, we may take any of these steps, in any order:

  1. remove the post;
  2. give a warning;
  3. temporarily suspend Lounge posting (typically 24 hours to 30 days);
  4. permanently remove Lounge access;
  5. suspend or close the TipSheet account.

Zero tolerance. We skip straight to permanent removal of the account, without warning, for: threats of violence; sexual content involving minors; doxxing; market-manipulation schemes or coordinated pumping; paid promotion or solicitation for paid signal groups after a single warning; hate speech; and ban evasion. Content involving the exploitation of children is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and we cooperate with law enforcement and regulators where the law requires or allows.

Appeals #

If your post was removed or your account restricted and you believe we got it wrong, email support@tipsheet.trade within 30 days with your username and what happened. A person will review the decision and reply, normally within 7 days.

Retention #

Lounge posts are shown for 3 days; they are stored for up to 90 days for moderation and then deleted. See our Privacy Policy.
